Water Conservation

Water Conservation

Northwest Harris County MUD 24 is committed to water conservation and supports programs that offer ways to use our resource more efficiently.  The District has provided related links below to bring awareness to our customers on actions and methods to undertake to promote water conservation.

Drought Information

The District has adopted a Drought Contingency Plan which should be referred to for reference if an advisory notice is issued.

Notices of voluntary conservation are usually triggered by extended hot weather and/or periods of low rainfall. Mandatory conservation notices guide customers during more severe conditions that could affect our Districts’ water availability. Please review the Plan and if you see signs posted in your neighborhood, abide by the restrictions.

Water Smart Program

The Water Smart program is a public awareness campaign to promote year-round water conservation jointly funded by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the Texas Water Development Board.

The District has undertaken the following objectives of the Water Smart Goals:

  • Increase awareness of the need for water conservation, during a drought year-round.
  • Enable the public to participate in water conservation efforts both inside and outside the home.
  • Leverage existing local water conservation efforts.
